Prepare your high-pressure pump for freezing temperatures

As temperatures drop, frost protection becomes an essential part of caring for your high-pressure pump. Taking the right precautions helps prevent damage during periods when the equipment is not in operation.

Water remaining in the system can freeze and expand, damaging pumps, valves and other components. The effects are not always immediately visible — some damage may only become apparent after the equipment has returned to use.

Protect your pump with the Frost protection kit

Aquajet’s Frost protection kit provides a practical solution for protecting and preserving your high-pressure pump when it is not in operation.

The kit includes a tank for antifreeze and corrosion-inhibiting fluid, together with an electric pump that circulates the fluid through the water system. It helps protect against freezing and corrosion while preventing seals from drying out.

The recirculating system recovers the glycol for reuse each time, reducing fluid consumption and waste.

Aquajet also supplies ready-mixed glycol antifreeze rated to −37°C.

Always follow the frost protection procedure in your unit’s manual. Drain water where instructed and use the recommended antifreeze to protect the parts of the system where water may remain.

Where possible, store the unit above freezing, for example in a heated space.

Frost protection safeguards the water system during periods of inactivity, but the unit still needs to warm up before use. The drive motor and high-pressure pump should not be started while their metal components are too cold.

Follow the instructions in your unit’s manual for preparing the equipment to return to operation.
